The "Element of Loyalty" is one that I value quite a bit IRL actually!
Because of this, I wanted to make sure that I made a track that suited Rainbow Dash, and her element accurately. So for the first time on the album, I decided the song should have a special guest vocalist. After hearing some of her material, and having the pleasure of attending a live performance or two, there was only one artist in my head that I felt could take the song "to the nines." Koa's a real treat to have on this record, and I think her vocals really match the passion and energy of the track well! She got the vox back to me really quickly, and included some excellent harmony tracks in addition to the leads. I didn't really have to do much with the vocals once I received them, as they were already well EQ'd and sat in the mix near perfectly (which was a HUGE relief, as mixing vocals has never been a strong suit of mine!) As for the track itself, the song went through two main phases. Initially the intention was to give the song more of an "uplifting vocal trance" vibe, and it actually stayed that way for quite some time, until a "certain game with a glamrock soundtrack" "breached" my mind, and influenced me to change course last minute. Thankfully, I found that the genre change (in my opinion) helped better compliment the energy of Koa's vocals, as well as the sheer "awesome factor" of Rainbow Dash.
As for the song's title, I'd be remiss if I didn't credit my close friend and fellow musician "@pplebukker" for dropping the idea on me, right as I was contemplating naming the demo project. I was expressing to him how pumped up I was, at the idea of writing an album in which there were no remixes, where I could basically write whatever I wanted, with all original twists/ideas...to which he responded "the sky's the limit right?" And just like that, I knew EXACTLY what to call the track! Following the song's titling, the lyrics were immensely easy to write, as images in my head began to manifest of Rainbow Dash perhaps giving an inspirational talk to her friends (or maybe Scootaloo) informing them that she'll always have their backs, and will be there to motivate them to go beyond their limits! At the end of the day, I'd like to think that the spirit of Rainbow Dash was honoured quite well here, and I owe it all, and am SUPER thankful to both Koa and @pplebukker for their awesome contributions!
