Starlight's my favourite...so naturally, I wanted to take this song, & give it a level of reverence and respect that bested anything I'd made prior. The concept came from some "fanon" I'd had in my head regarding her future at the School of Friendship. In my head, though she was honoured to take on the responsibility of the school's head, she missed her counseling days, and perhaps had a "faithful student" that she kept in touch with, even after taking the lead position.

In this timeline, the student is nearing graduation. With the Mane Six going separate ways, Starlight's student has been one of the only pillars of "familiarity" she's had left. Starlight's proud of her, & how much she's grown; looking back at all her progress/accomplishments, as well as looking towards her future, & all the things her student will do. But in her heart, though Starlight's happy for her, she can't help but feel a sense of loss in the departure...So, in spirits of both kindness, & perhaps a touch of desperation, she reminds her student that if she ever needs help, she'll always be there to talk/confide.

I've never written a song like this, but going in the feelings I knew I wanted to portray flowed naturally into the production. The concept, instrumental, lyrics; it all fit together like a self-solving puzzle!
Once the lyrics were written, & the demo was finished, I began a struggle to find a vocalist to match to the song, not only in vibe, but personality. There were a couple potentials I'd considered, & even tried out. Some were great! But due to one thing or another occurring, (including loss of files or contact struggles) the song was put on hiatus, and the album remained unfinished.

Then, "Town of Opaline" happened in 2021. I was working on "A Place in a Different Time" for my "NeighGative_" alias, and again was looking for a singer for my track "Town of Opaline." A good friend of mine at the time; sent a recommendation, an artist I'd never heard of by the name "MathematicPony." I clicked a link to her channel and thought, "she's great, but waaaay out of my league acclaim wise! Plus we've never met, so she's knows nothing of me either!" But even in doubt, I decided to throw a tweet her way, to see if she was interested in a collab. To my surprise, she was eager to work on it, and after discovering/listening to her full discography under her true-to-name alias "Elyse Shackleton," I became a HUGE fan of hers overnight! It's strange working on a track with a person you know nothing about, and then out of nowhere, they become not only one of your favourite artists, but a close friend too! You go from, "Cool! I've found someone to work on this track" to..."Oh my GOSH! I'm somehow doing a song with one of my top faves? How did this happen?...and we're friends???"

Later that year, we met at PVCF, an event neither of us knew the other was going to be there for. We hit things off really well, and after a rehearsal sesh in the hotel room for a live rendition of "Town of Opaline," I took a chance and played her the demo of "Wherever You Are" with vocals that I'd previously recorded myself. It was a pipe dream, but I knew she'd be the perfect match for the song, and I just had to try! So, even though I'm admittedly embarrassed when it comes to singing, I shared it, and was floored when she said she loved it, and was interested in working on it as well! She sent the vocals and I meticulously re-worked parts of the track so that everything was perfect, and boom...finished, as was the rest of the album! Like the other contributors to this final body of work, I can't thank Elyse/Math enough for her time/generosity! Our song is something I will treasure for the rest of my music journey!

One more thing...

This track, (and in fact the whole album) has a deeper meaning.
While "PleXus" is a reference to the story of the Mane 7, and how
they all met via unusual circumstances and connections,
this album's also a reference to my time in the fandom, and all the people I'VE met along the way through unusual and unique happenings. It's also a thank you to all who've given me their precious time; listening to my work, commenting, sharing it with others...I don't deserve any of that, and to this day I'm still immensely humbled by the kindness/acceptance shown! So when it comes to this track, know that while I may be leaving the Brilliant Venture alias behind, I want you all to know that "I'm still here..." for you. Even as I journey with excitement into new NeighGative_ projects, I'm still the same "me."

I will ALWAYS be thankful to each and every one of you who were there for my "Brilliant Venture" days, and you'll never EVER be forgotten! No matter what, whenever you need me, wherever you are...I'll still be here. 💜
